- Line 3 六三3rd line · Yin未濟，征凶，利涉大川。Before completion: going forth brings misfortune; it is beneficial to cross the great river.
- Line 4 九四4th line · Yang貞吉，悔亡，震用伐鬼方，三年有賞于大國。Steadfastness brings good fortune; regret vanishes. Shock-like effort to subdue the Devil's Country; after three years, rewards from the great realm.
- Line 5 六五5th line · Yin貞吉，無悔，君子之光，有孚，吉。Steadfastness brings good fortune; no regret; the light of the noble person is sincere: good fortune.
- Line 6 上九Top line (6th) · Yang有孚于飲酒，無咎，濡其首，有孚失是。Drinking wine in sincere confidence: no fault; but if he gets his head wet, he loses what is right despite his sincerity.
