- Line 1 初九Bottom line (1st) · Yang曳其輪，濡其尾，無咎。He drags his wheels, he wets his tail; no fault.
- Line 2 六二2nd line · Yin婦喪其茀，勿逐，七日得。The woman loses the curtain of her carriage; do not chase it; in seven days she will find it.
- Line 3 九三3rd line · Yang高宗伐鬼方，三年克之，小人勿用。The Emperor Gaozong attacks the Devil's Country and conquers it in three years; do not employ petty people.
- Line 4 六四4th line · Yin繻有衣袽，終日戒。The finest clothes turn to rags; be on guard all day.
- Line 5 九五5th line · Yang東鄰殺牛，不如西鄰之禴祭，實受其福。The eastern neighbor slaughters an ox, but this is not as good as the western neighbor's simple offering; he truly receives the blessing.
- Line 6 上六Top line (6th) · Yin濡其首，厲。He gets his head wet: danger.
