📖 The Lines (爻辭 / Yaoci)
- Line 1 初六Bottom line (1st) · Yin發蒙，利用刑人，用說桎梏，以往吝。Enlightening the ignorant: it is beneficial to apply discipline and to remove fetters, but to go on in this way brings regret.
- Line 2 九二2nd line · Yang包蒙吉，納婦吉，子克家。To embrace the ignorant brings good fortune; to take a wife brings good fortune; the son can manage the household.
- Line 3 六三3rd line · Yin勿用取女，見金夫，不有躬，無攸利。Do not take such a woman; seeing a man of gold, she loses self-possession; nothing is favorable.
- Line 4 六四4th line · Yin困蒙，吝。Entangled in ignorance: regret.
- Line 5 六五5th line · Yin童蒙，吉。Childlike ignorance: good fortune.
- Line 6 上九Top line (6th) · Yang擊蒙，不利為寇，利禦寇。Striking the ignorant: it is unfavorable to act as a bandit, favorable to guard against bandits.
