- Line 1 初九Bottom line (1st) · Yang壯于前趾，往不勝為咎。Powerful in the forward toes; going and failing to prevail is a fault.
- Line 2 九二2nd line · Yang惕號，莫夜有戎，勿恤。A cry of alarm; armed men at night; do not worry.
- Line 3 九三3rd line · Yang壯于頄，有凶。君子夬夬，獨行遇雨，若濡有慍，無咎。Strength showing in the cheekbones brings misfortune. The noble person is resolute, resolute; walking alone in rain, drenched and vexed, but no fault.
