- Line 3 九三3rd line · Yang日昃之離，不鼓缶而歌，則大耋之差，凶。In the light of the setting sun, if one does not drum on the pot and sing, one will lament old age: misfortune.
- Line 4 九四4th line · Yang突如其來如，焚如，死如，棄如。Suddenly it comes: burning, dying, being cast out.
- Line 5 六五5th line · Yin出涕沱若，戚嗟若，吉。Tears flow like rain, sighing with sorrow: good fortune.
- Line 6 上九Top line (6th) · Yang王用出征，有嘉折首，獲匪其醜，無咎。The king marches out to campaign; he is rewarded by killing the leader and capturing not their followers; no fault.
